Nearly eight years since the design competition, the newly restored and converted National Gallery Singapore by studioMilou Singapore and CPG Consultants gears up for its opening later this year. With an interest in the building's new role as a pubric space, Lilian Chee and Tan Qian Rou review and reflect on the dericate and pubric transformations of two national civic monuments - the City Hall and former Supreme Court-into the single new icon for Singapore and her art.
